As the snow begins to melt, we find ourselves looking forward to our favorite summer activities. Before you set out for a weekend at the lake, it’s important to give your boats and Sea-Doo a basic inspection. Checking for leaks, cracks, and corrosion may seem a little overwhelming at first, but we got you covered.

When it comes to de-winterizing, your watercraft, boats and Sea-Doos have a few things in common. Here a simple checklist to help you get ready for the season:

- Start by simply walking around your equipment, looking for mold, mildew, and any sign of bugs, rodents, or birds that may need repair

- Inspect all cables, hoses, rubber parts, anything that could have been damaged due to winter weather conditions

- Check Blige Pump

- Check the engine, fuel systems, and cooling system, get them serviced if needed

- Test all electronics, gauges, speakers, horn, and screens

- Look for any cracks or blistering

- Inspect nuts, bolts, and gauges

- Stabilize the fuel system

- Replace engine oil and filter

- Check the steering for any stiffness or other issues

- Check and change the battery if needed

- Check water systems

- Preform a trailer inspection

- Don't forget to flush your jet ski and clean and inspect the jet pump

When it comes to your boat, we like the idea of working from the inside out. Start with inspecting the deck and checking the windows for leaks. Replace wiper blades if needed. Perform a safety check on your ladder, PDFs, and other safety gear on board, replace and update safety gear if needed. Checking for any damage to the haul is also important, as well as making sure your portlights are working properly.

The more hours you spend on the lake the more seasoned you become. Each person develops their unique way of checking their equipment to make sure it's lake ready.
